Our start in the Braunvieh business began with the purchase of a group of females and two Braunvieh bulls from J.W. and Velma Lightfoot of Lightfoot Land & Cattle. When we were getting started, we sought as much breed information as possible.
This page is designed to provide some helpful information on the Braunvieh breed...

Braunvieh feature a white band around the muzzle and are typically a brown color. A fullblood Braunvieh is so designated because every animal in its pedigree traces back to Braunvieh cattle that originated from Switzerland Original Braunvieh. Fullblood and purebred Braunvieh can be horned or polled.
The Braunvieh breed is strong in milk, muscle, marbling and fertility. They are well known for their docile temperament and ease of handling. Braunvieh are moderate in size and frame.
Many of the convenience traits found in Braunvieh cattle are hard to measure economically, but they do contribute towards the ease and safety of production for the cow/calf producer. Braunvieh and Braunvieh-cross cattle have proven their superior genetics for all segments if the industry.
